Steven J. Triezenberg is the president and dean of Van Andel Institute Graduate School, and professor in Van Andel Research Institute. Dr. Triezenberg received his bachelor’s degree in biology and education at Calvin College in Grand Rapids, MI. His Ph.D. training in cell and molecular biology at the University of Michigan was followed by postdoctoral research at the Carnegie Institution of Washington. Before joining the Van Andel Institute in 2006, Dr. Triezenberg was a faculty member of the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at Michigan State University for more than 18 years. He also served as the Director of Van Andel Educational Institute from 2009 to 2015. His research explores the regulation of gene expression, in particular during herpes simplex virus infections.
